Mental Health Is Always Present at Work

“I’m fine.”
That’s the most common lie at work. We show up to work every day. We complete our tasks and attend meetings. Everything looks normal from the outside.
But many people are struggling silently.
Around 15% of working adults live with a mental health condition.
Yet most struggles remain unseen in daily work life.
At work we often focus only on results. We do not see the effort it takes for someone to keep going when they feel tired or overwhelmed.
Mental health issues do not always look serious. Sometimes it is quiet. A person may feel low. They may feel drained. They may still continue without asking for help.
Every year 12 billion working days are lost due to depression and anxiety.
This is not just about productivity. It is about people trying to function while struggling.
Small actions can make a difference. A simple check in can help. A kind word can ease someone’s day.
Because support is often missing where it is needed most.
Mental health issues do not always look serious. Sometimes it is quiet. A person may feel low. They may feel drained. They may still continue without asking for help.
So before asking about work…
maybe ask about the person.
Because a better workplace is not built on performance alone. It is built on people who feel seen.
